Old Time's Sake

I'm sneaking online even though it's cNy.

It’s suppOsed to be a holiday, where people take a break from working like a cow during the rest of the year. Even when I went out yesterday for the gathering with my primary school pals, I can't enjoy myself fully without glancing at the clock every hour or another. Ok Edmund, I didn't plan to go out before u start interrogating bout my revision progress. A phone call came and old friends took turns to express how much they miss u, how can you possibly reject that??

Okay I may have exaggerated little, lol, but that’s about what had happened yesterday afternoon.

Instead of dropping by at one of my friend’s place to catch up (as what they’ve told me in the phone), we ended up going to the places of a few old friend’s for visiting. Doing short visits to people’s houses during cny was never really my thing, ‘cause I find it kinda awkward sometimes. It was as if our aim from our first step into the house would be to collect the angpows, especially when we’re taking off again to next house in less than 15 minutes. -.-"

Anyway, yesterday was different since those are the people I have not really talked to for ages. This is the time where you catch up with what you've missed. Everyone seems to have gone through a part of their lives without each other and yet we’re sitting there together again after many years. It feels like we have all parted on our own journey and on this day our paths crossed each other again, though it may just be for a short moment.

It is kinda nice to see people from your past once in a while. You get to see how much they have changed, yet deep down there are still something recognizable bout them. Things that we have once shared, traceable in our memories...

Highlight of the day was the part when Jessica took out all the old photos that we’ve taken on the last few days of our primary school life. Those pictures were really… *speechless*. We were practically laughing hysterically, while trying frantically to stop some people from snapping those ugly shots with their handphones. God knows what will happen if they find their way up to facebook and got our names tagged. All our images built over the years…*poof* gone within seconds.

After that, we went up to the lookout point at Ulu Langat for dinner. Nice view, but we were freezing most of the time, mainly because it had been drizzling since afternoon.

All in all, it was a nice gathering. Thanks for dragging me out guys, haha. One regret, we forgot to take pictures!! How can we possibly forget, when the next time we meet could well be 5 or 10 years later…

This was the only pic taken on the day (without me!). Too bad my fren left her camera at home before they came to pick me up. See u guys next time when someone gets married, lol.

Chinese New Year 2009

Once again, its the joyous festive time,a season for the Chinese to look forward to.Its just less than a day away from the Xin Nian (Chinese New Year), the year of Ox of '09. To me CNY equates the color red.Everywhere you go during this season, things around you are red in color. The food is red ( or at least the container is), the clothes, the ornaments, the decor, ang pau-es and oh yeah, not forgetting the weather too (scorching hot like motherf*cker).Even my fonts are red too,to fit the occasion, lalalala.AUSPICIOUS ma~~~~

Now,do allow me to shed light on whats my real deal with MY kind of CNY =)
~During pre-cNy, me and Denise will shop like mad, hahaha.(Actually,i dont need a reason to shop,i shop for xmas, deepavali, raya, when im sad, when im happy, when im bored, when im horny, when im not horny and when I am NOT BROKE).
~Then come New Year's Eve,yipeeeee.Usually,my mum dont cook (kinda ...suxs,no offence ya mummy, still love ya,muaks muaks) for the reunion dinner. She used to,but recent years...she dah sedar diri.Bagus bagus (joking laaaaaaa,im so bad). Therefore,we will dine out, double the yipeee-ness.
~Then just before it strikes 12 a.m,we (me n my family) will head to the temple...near KLCC. Primary Reason for choosing tht particular temple? Its air-conditioned.KAkakaAKA.We will do our prayers, and stuffs.Im pretty much a devoted young man =).Seriously i dont mind getting back to our regular annual routine of visiting the Thean Hou temple (though its congested by the 1st Day of CNY and it aint air-conditioned).
~First day of CNY...will be as boring as...(ermm I cant say no 'ong' words hor)...as...as...nvm.
Yeapz, most probably i will be at home whole day,coz i dont bother to visit my father's relatives (most of them).Sorry, but im not fond with u guys, bluek. So usually me n my sis will stay at home, away from the sun, online.Invited friends will come over, main black jack or in between,or mahjong kua...or chit chat...YAy~
~Then the real deal begins on 2nd day of CNY.Will be back to mama's hometown Ipoh...Stay over in 1st uNcLe's big luxurious house (fuyo fuyo kaya~).Will do visiting, have nice dinners in fancy restaurants, chit chat wiv relatives, play cards with cousins...etc...for the next few days...
This year, beyond all doubt will be much more fun than the pervious year.My cousin bro, Jack with wife Nana together with their newborn son, Sakutarou will be flying from Australia and Japan to here, celebrating with us.My cousin sis, together with her hubby will b joining us too,all the way from HK.Hehehehe...
~On serious note, this may be my last CNY here as im flying off to NZ.
Till then,doodles~Will update more~

A Spring Cleaning episOde

Counting down 2 days to Chinese New Year, every family member (meaning my mom) is busy finishing up their last touches on cleaning up every spot and corner in the house. Seeing her up since early morning and still working on it till late afternoon makes me feel a slight tinge of guilt since I’ve done probably the least to help in this house (by clearing up my own stuffs). Given the big excuse of preparing for exam right after CNY and health condition, my parents naturally dismiss the thought of having my help in spring cleaning this year. Yaya I know I should be studying by now if so, but a person has got to eat lunch, no? And although I’ve just finished my lunch, I need time to digest my food before turning to that stack of indigestible notes. Haha…

By the way, this morning I suddenly recalled a phone conversation I had with Edmund many years back… it went something like this…

Ed: Yerr… there was a lizard squashed flat on the door frame of my room.

DeNise: Disgusting! That’s probably you always slamming your door. (That time Ed’s a super mood-swinger ~ Now he’s still one but lesser of one, haha)

Ed: Hahaha… so cute! It’s like SO flat. Wonder how many times it was crushed by the door to get that flat.

DeNise: Poor lizzie…

Without realizing it, I (or one of my family members) have committed the same unspeakable crime a few years later.

This discovery was made while my mom’s doing spring cleaning at the kitchen this morning. I’ve never seen one this huge in my life. Unlike Ed’s lizzie, this more unfortunate one was squashed on the hinges of the door at my kitchen. You can't spot it unless u stand very near to the gate, and then look to the right. Which means we have no idea how many months (or perhaps years) it has been there, being repeatedly slammed against to becoming part of the door frame.

What’s more surprising, when mom was trying to broom it down, a smaller baby lizzie fell down before the huge one did. Apparently, it was a doomed fate for a mother and child who went for a pleasant sunbathing trip at the door hinge.

ps: Judging by the sound of how it fell onto the ground, it's really crispy. I cant help but be reminded of the satay ikan thing Penang is famous of...

A-level results...

"Oh lord...".I woke up at 8.13 am yesterday,an hour and thirteen minutes later than i've expected.Yup,my results are out on 7am.I dragged myself from my bed, went to the website and key in my password and username. My nose begun to bleed, with my half-opened eyes, staring at my radiating lappie's screen.I reached out to my tissue box on the floor and then called up Ching Ying,a close college friend of mine.
Me :Hello...?

Ching Y:Hello,yea.
Me:U woke up oredi ar...

Ching Y: Yea.Apparently ya not.

Me: U've checked urs?

Ching Y: Nope,i've been sitting in front of my pc from 7 a.M.

I promised to help her get done with her procedures.Printing out her results, photocopy them and get them certified as soon as possible.I,nonchalantly, pressed enter. And i saw a row of As.And i couldnt help but to care less to read more,I went back to sleep.

I was startled with the text tone of my cell phone. Its 11 a.m,there goes my beauty sleep."Congratulation.U made it with flying colors". Wow,mum thanks, ahaks how formal.Somehow i managed to tell her how i ace my examination early in the morning in the state of semi-cousciousness.Yay~Daniel did ask...So did Denise. And thats it.
Im just grateful.Thank God.

I went back to college later in the evening.Mr.Low pulled out his hand and gave me a hand shake.Im like 'Alaaah, please ler'.Surprise surprise,he asked me about Justin again.Hahaha...
Justin has the audacity,to look forward to get his results, always been.Breakdown of the results excite him more. That fella,typical...(Haha...)

p/s: fcuk ler...i missed The Hills,bloggin this post.Fcuk...Urgh.

indelible conversation?

no,im not weeping.im just bored.
EdMuNd : Hey there,can i speak to my baby,please ?
Dxxxxe : Huh,...spo...tty ?
EdMuNd : ...ello,can i speak to my BABY...pleaseeeeeeeeeeee...
Xenisx : Oh,hahaha i thought you said spotty...So how's your...

(Such a turn off)

Its just hours away to the release of my results.Yup,my A-levels examination.Finished at November '08 and here...i am in front of my pc,a few (maybe a thousand) clicks away from accessing University of Cambridge website. Results that are pivotal in reinforcing my academic strengths.
To date, its the torque of my moment.Nervous,checked.Worried,checked.Sleepless,SURE HOPE NOT.
My aunt called me up this evening. She was my closest aunt, frequent visits to my home (i mean like almost everyday,at least once a week wiv uncle) to see her bro (my dad) for yumcha...It was rather weird that she called me from her office to well, erm chat.Yea,though i classified her as my closest aunt,it was well understood among my other family members, may it be from my mum's side or my dad's,that i dont talk much.Neither do i pretend to.A total opposite of my sis,the loud & talkative one,the happy go lucky one.So yea,its rather weird she talked to me through phone about me going to New Zealand.Asking about my preparation and how did i get to know about that university.I realised it's such a big deal of me going overseas after i hung up.This, however,i can't deny the fact that im really pretending that it could be dismissed as a marginal issue. For the past two months,i have been weaving a cocoon around myself, somehow console myself to settle in denial, pull over the wool over my eyes to conceal the fact that i will no longer be in my comfort zone. But to a rather foreign place,a place where people generally think its an unusual option to study.A place where the population of Asians is lesser than 2% in relative to the total proximity.
Clubbing, hanging out, dating, movies, dose of sexs =D,shopping, and spending ridiculous time at home doing almost nothing, just constitute to the facade i wish to have in reality. The illusion of time will wait,or at least University of Otago will wait.
Hmmm, perhaps im more worried of flying off from my comfort zone rather than my examination results.Accomodation there in NZ is still unconfirm yet, great (faiii diiittt lah,tiu).Sigh.All in all, wish me luck. For tommorow (my results) and for my future ( my results and my life in NZ to-be).God bless.

Hear me

There are things ppl shud know (if they wanna date me) about me.I dont like awkward situation;like who does? A little dose would do,but if u throw me in a group of strangers expect me to hav dinner with them, that totally ticks me off.

Well, today is those kinda days where history recounts.A friend, asked me out for a dinner, and shockingly i saw a table full of ...unknown people.I see why people considered me the introvert one,or the rude one.I was so turned off,i dont bother to even answer their questions when they r trying to make some conversation.Let me clarify something; THE KICKSTART of OUR conversation was something abt lubricant.Ahem* wth?

I dont see myself as a polite person, but ...some things do denote classes between people. Some are classy n some, sadly, are not =).And i totally do my thinggggg, texting Denise that is,for the whole full hour. And the person who supposed to be on 'date' with me..,just doesnt talk.Yada yada yada more with their frens.I mean,FCUK U LA WEI.

Conclusion,i shud have known much better,at least do a background check on them.
Anyway things were cool when i left to meet Veena and Sheryl.Sheryl is flying off back to Perth tmr.=)

shut ur hole

someone : thanks but no thanks.

someone's someone : its over now.

*someone appears offline*

People today are hardly contented with their lives.Sadly,im one of them.People who accept the graceful way of life unfold before them, take a step back in their frantic pace of lives,to smell the roses,to halt and to breathe in.A few months ago,i have witnessed how stupid one of my close buddy cling to his relationship.Plagued with deep unhappiness,he was, still holding to it,for the sake of not being single.Pathetic,yes.Annoyance,yes.How he complaint to me was nothing less than futile.Every advice given to him was mere words of filling the frequency gap of the air.(So pathethic to see him, even more irritating when he tries to brag at the time of his break up)

So many people are unhappy. They jump from one relationship to another, seeking for temporary love and gratification,pseudo-appreciation,not for a second contemplating their quality of their lives.Their hearts are broken over and over again.People are rushing from one place to another, one activity to another, just because they can't tolerate spending more time with themselves. They find solitude as a threat instead of an opportunity to grow.

They fail to measure their own worth without judging the man standing beside them.

Love is arbitrary. When problems arise, you try to solve it.You dont try to dictate neither give in.This wasnt the case for me;as in...yea,im having problems too.

Its a social disorder, epidemic, endemic and pandemic one.Curable that is,but terminal as well.

We love to define ourselves in terms of where we are going instead of where we are from.A behavioural defect or an upgrade of the society? As for now,i wish to enjoy my life the fullest. And i know my heart will always have a space for Denise.Never on vacant. =)

sweet dreamz

I stretched to hit the snooze button on the alarm clock and grabbed my handphone to check the time. (i know its weird but i prefer my phone ova alarm clock) 9:35am...5 minutes past the time I set. While lazy-ing round in my bed, I can still recall faintly what was i dreaming...

a woman in santa clothing stuffed a box of chocolate to me saying something like: "These chocolates are meant for u. Don't give it to others." (cuz apparently she gave me some previously and i shared it with others)

Weird dream. Anyway...that's how i woke up this morning. After I got up n went downstairs for breakfast, and guess what?

I found this in the usually almost-empty refrigerator...

Godiva chocolatE~~

Looking all beautiful n yummy~

I have this policy of not eating chocolate since many months ago since I don intend to worsen the condition of my skin and not to mention how suffering it is when u get sick during final exam.
But for this deliCious (and vr expensive) chocolate, I'll break that policy jz for once. ^^

That dream of mine this morning... "these chocolates are meant for u," said santarina.
I think it's there to warn me from sharing them. Haha..

And the best thing is, I can taste the melting happiness without chewing.
Lately, chewing = pain. ><

I wanna eAt ><

Among all the other times of the year, u have to choose now to break urself out of your comfortable and soft confines and bring forth pain and suffer to poor me. I've already surrendered to the fact that I cannot enjoy cny this year due to the final exam and other factors. At least let me eat all i want la. Stupid wisdom tooth.

New year, new hopes =)

Once again, it's the first day of the year. Time really flies~
As I was flicking through newspaper this morning, I realised so much have happened throughout the entire 2008... Those articles that featured on the disasters like earthquake in Sichuan were particularly heartbreaking. Innocent lives were taken away, leaving their loved ones devastated. However it is at these moments that humans showed one another the long lost kind nature. Teachers were sacrificing themselves to protect students; a man saved other children but couldn’t help his own to survive... This made me realized once again the problems that I face were nothing compared to the agony they have gone through. I should be grateful that nothing that tragedic happened to my life, although it wasn't an entirely peaceful year either.

Anyway, that’s enough of being emo for the past. Let’s move on to the present and look forward to the future. =D
Let’s see...what do I have in mind for 2009? As each year begins, I start listing out things that I wanna achieve, only to be forgotten within matter of weeks. =P But I’m sure this year is gonna be different, yep.

DeNise’s Resolution List 2009

1. Be clear (at least less doubtful) of my direction in studies and my future career.
2. Be more of an enthusiastic learner instead of studying those subjects plainly for excelling in exams. (hopefully I’ll find Accounting more exciting this way)
3. Clear off those frustrating skin problems.
4. Sleep more.
5. Exercise more. Seriously neEd to improve my stamina and look better.
6. Show more love to my loved ones. =)
7. Enjoy more of my college life! For the past year I’ve been so busy, my goodness. No wonder I’m so exhausted.
8. Find a great hairstyle that suits me like no other.
9. Prove that I can actually fall for someone.
10. Improve my communication skills. Not that I’m bad at it, just that I still have rooms for improvement in this when dealing with sensitive people.
11. DefeAt the laziness and the habit of procrastination in me. Don’t let this bury my intelligence. Haha...

These are only part of them. Hopefully I’ll be able to state with pride that I’ve at least accomplished more than half of these by this time next year. Looking at Ed’s list, 3 out his 7 resolutions are related to being more optimistic. I, on the other hand, should learn to be less optimistic so that I can stop being so relaxed even when I’m studying last minute for exams...

Enough said, let's cheers to a greAt year aheAd! =)
