Watching Beethoven Virus, the recent popular k-drama, it somehow reminds me of Nodame C. live action (the Japanese version of the series depicting on orchestra play).Maybe one is inspired by the other? Both have similar characters in their version,a stuck-up orchestra conductor/maestro whc then eventually takes up the responsibility to conduct a bunch of ...not so professional players. In doing so,the conductor has grown fond towards them and ultimately, build a strong bond among the players. In Beethoven Virus, the conductor (Kang Gun Woo) is an elite workaholic in 40's whc earned himself a kinda bad reputation for his downright snobbish attitude,self-centred and stubborn personality.Sarcastic remarks and criticism from him are nothing surprising.Sounds familiar? (ring a bell? Chiaki senpai from Nodame.C? Hmmm,i wonder ).In Beethoven V,however has more drama to it,where the conductor meet Du ru Mi,the female violinist who later suffers from hearing impairment.Another protagonist shares the same name with the conductor in this series with his talents that are forced to be reckon with.
Jang Geun Suk as the talented trumpet player XDThe violinist, the talented trumpet player and the conductor ,together, forms a love triangle.Haha, hey come on lah,its korean drama,u should expect DRAMA right...As compared to Nodame C. (the japanese series), its less tense and deviates more to the humor side.More animated gestures, expressions and effects are shown in Nodame. All in all, both are not bad at all to watch, if ya have tht much of free time (like me) =)
